About Barts Away

Barts Away is a travel content brand built around one idea: honest information that actually helps you plan a better trip.

I’m Marcin Bartnicki — a travel content creator based in Exeter, UK. I’ve been living and working in Britain for over twenty years, travelling across Europe with my family throughout that time and documenting it for a Polish-speaking audience on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

What started as travel vlogs evolved into something more focused. I noticed that the biggest problem people have planning a trip isn’t a lack of information — it’s too much of it, most of it unreliable.

Review platforms are gamed. Influencer content is sponsored. AI-generated travel guides are filled with places that don’t exist or closed years ago.

So I started building my own maps.

Every place in a Barts Away map has been researched manually.

I cross-check opening hours, access routes, parking, seasonal closures and practical details that most travel content ignores — like which beaches require water shoes, which car parks fill up by 10am, and which gorges are genuinely dangerous without proper footwear.

The maps are built as Google Maps lists, which means they work inside an app you already have, on any phone, with no subscription and no account to create.

You buy the map, click the link, press Save, and the list is yours. Every pin is annotated in both English and Polish.

That is not an afterthought — it reflects who I make this content for: Polish travellers who want reliable information in their own language, and English-speaking travellers who want detail that goes beyond the obvious.

Crete was the first map. Madeira is next.

More destinations follow every season.
